Raising quality Nigerian Dwarf goats in the Baltimore and Washington D.C area.
We had some requests from friends and family during the 2015 season to come watch the goats kid. As much as we wanted to allow people in, this wasn't an easy request to honor. Our kidding barn's aisle isn't that big and we wouldn't feel comfortable having guests around if there was and emergency. So this year we came up with, what we think, is a great answer and opportunity for those who want to be there with us and the does!
We've teamed up with a site called Mare Stare to be able to live stream our kiddings, and anything else we want to stream! If you go to http://www.marestare.com/cams.php a long list of cams will pop up. You'll see us in the C-D section. Clicking on the name will bring up the window at the bottom. The live stream will play on its own, but the camera won't be on all the time, so sometimes you'll get a message saying no stream found. The cam will get turned on though on the day a doe is due and run until after the birth, unless there's an emergency. If you want to get alerted to when the cam is on, because we may turn it on here and there to have fun with it, you can check out our twitter page!
My name is Cassandra Wheeles and I oversee the breeding program here at Doodle Acres. I do most of the hard work of figuring out the best pairings and then getting everyone that's ready bred, but I get a lot of help from my mother and co owner Astrud. We're both working really hard again this year to ensure another successful season!
